Maffra

The wide, picturesque main street of Maffra makes it a popular destination with tourists and locals alike.  There is a wide range of shopping, dining and recreational activities but it retains its relaxed country charm.

This site showcases the town’s history including the unique Sugar Beet factory – the only one of its kind in the southern hemisphere – but also provides information on other key attractions in the town.  The museum in the former weighbridge office is open on the first Sunday of each month (Feb-Nov) from 10 am – 1 pm.

Our sister museum – Gippsland Vehicle Museum – is located in a former vegetable dehydration factory at 1A Sale Road and is open Friday to Monday from 10 am to 4 pm (and all school holidays).

There also is a Tourist Information Centre in the former courthouse next to the Post Office in Johnson Street, the main business centre of the town.

Please note the contact details are for the Maffra and District Historical Society and other listings include the appropriate location and contact details for those businesses.
