     From Heyfield across rich grazing flats to Snake Ridge; join Princes Highway across La Trobe River to Rosedale; through grazing land and pine plantations to Holey Plain; undulating bitumen and all weather roads through park.

     To follow this map RESET you trip meter at Heyfield and proceed to Rosedale. Take a break at Rosedale, RESET your trip meter and continue to Holey Plain.


Rosedale to Holey Plain State Park
  • Rosedale - Centre of grazing district, situated on La Trobe River; off-highway travellers' rest facilities within the town, food, toilets; historic buildings; speedway; hotels; motel; caravan park.
  • Holey Plain State Park - open eucalypt and banksia woodland, noted for wildflowers; scenic drives on accessible sandy roads; picnic areas with facilities at Holey Hill, Harriers Swamp, Merrimans Creek; walking tracks from Holey Hill (short 20 minutes, longer 1.5 hrs return); camping permitted at Holey Hill & Harriers Swamp (facilities limited).

Take the other route through Central Gippsland 

Heyfield to Rosedale
  • Heyfield - timber town situated on the Thomson River; wetlands park; adventure playground, BBQs, toilet facilities; hotel, motel, CP.
  • Cowwarr - small historic service centre; hotel; art gallery; Cowwarr Weir picnic spot nearby.
