From Maffra across rich river flats to Briagolong;
gently undulating road through non-irrigated grazing land and plantations
to the Dargo road, from here travel the scenic route C601 to Dargo and
on to Black Snake Creek.

continue to the Black Snake Creek parking area.
Dargo - settled in the 1860's as a supply town
for the mountain goldfields.
Exhibition Corner - battery site turn right off
the main road[C601] heading towards Crooked River.
Black Snake Creek - start of the historic walk
into the battery site. Gold was mined in the district from the 1860's to
the early 1950's.
Crooked River - the road continues along the Wonnangatta
River.

Maffra - commercial centre of rich dairying area,
situated on the Macalister River; picturesque main street; Sugar Beet Museum; vintage vehicle museum;
wetlands park; large park beside river with all visitor facilities including
canoe launch ramp; hotels, motel, CP
Boisdale - historic village
Briagolong - historic village
Cobbannah - by 1861 a shanty was operating at
this spot.
Castleburn - shanty established 1861, by 1865
was called Castle Burns and later changed to Castleburn Inn.
Waterford - originally known as Mitchell Crossing,
school opened in 1882 and closed around 1950.
