Strip Map Tour from Stratford to Glenmaggie and Coongulla
 
     Turn off Highway 1 onto C105 to Maffra, then across rich grazing flats through Tinamba to Heyfield; undulating road through farmland and open eucalypt bushland to Lake Glenmaggie; winding, narrow road past Weir Wall to Coongulla.
 
     To follow this map RESET you trip meter at Stratford and proceed via Maffra and Tinamba onto Heyfield. Take a break at Heyfield, RESET your trip meter and continue to Glenmaggie or Coongulla.

Heyfield to Glenmaggie & Coongulla
  • Heyfield - timber town situated on the Thomson River; wetlands park; adventure playground, BBQs, toilet facilities; hotel, motel, CP
  • Glenmaggie - small settlement at head of Lake; speed boat racing; water sports; CPs
  • Lake Glenmaggie - irrigation weir on Macalister River; water sports, fishing; boat ramps; CPs
  • Glenmaggie Weir Wall - picnic & toilet facilities, playground; information display
  • Coongulla (continue past Weir Wall entrance and follow signs) - residential area with limited facilities; access to water sports; boat ramp

Take the other route through Central Gippsland 

Stratford to Heyfield
  • Stratford - parks beside Avon River; food, accommodation, CP; craft and antique shops; museum; Knob Reserve; annual Shakespeare Festival
  • Maffra - commercial centre of rich dairying area, situated on the Macalister River; picturesque main street; Sugar Beet Museum; Gippsland Vehicle Collection; wetlands park; Macalister River Park with all visitor facilities including canoe launch ramp, skateboard ramp & children's adventure playground; hotels, motel, CP
  • Tinamba - village with general store; hotel with Dutch theme
