   I first learnt how to make silos in 1980 in Western Australia in a little country town called Popanyinning, near, Pingelly, in what they call the Great Southern District.  It is approximately three hours drive from Perth.  I was employed by a silo manufacturing firm called D.G. Bird's.

   I started off working as a labourer and after a while I was promoted to leading hand/foreman, where at times I took over the position of "boss" when the boss himself went out on the road to make sales.  I worked at D.G. Bird's for 2½ years and during that time I learnt all aspects of the silo manufacturing business.

My wife and I eventually moved back to Victoria, to Echuca, where I gained employment with a manufacturing firm and eventually persuaded them to go into making silos also.

I stayed there until 1985, when I decided to start my own engineering and silo making business, to which I am still dedicated to this day.
